Pandora’s dream
Humans have now become a destructive force in the world, whose unsustainable greed exploits its rich natural resources, damages its environment, destroys its precious biodiversity and displaces innocent indigenous communities who otherwise live in harmony with nature.
This photo series attempts to highlight the faces of our climate emergency, human figures taken from a dystopian future.
The stark form of the pictures that virtually distorts their features reveals an unusual but honest reflection of modern advanced civilization, actually intended as a portrait of future human populations on Earth, like the fictional humans invading the alien moon of Pandora in James Cameron's scripted sequel : "Avatar : The Way of Water." We are being seen as a species trapped in its own control culture that is now leading us to the precipice of the climate change crisis.
With the technique of digital double exposure, photos from satellite images are mixed with photographic portraits of everyday people, sourced from the web and give birth to a new visual effect, with strong form, with distorted human features creating an exaggeration that does not seem to be far from future alteration of the image of human nature, a result of the climate crisis that man himself consciously and uncontrollably causes.
Will we be able to remain human, both in soul and body and hand over to the new generations a world-environment as they deserve..?
